on to Poland

Well, we got our share of sleep last night. I finally crashed about 6:30 PM ..in broad daylight...and slept til about 3:30 AM....9 hours! But get this...Dad crashed about 3:00 PM yesterday and didn't wake up til 6:00 this morning!...that's 15 hours of sleep!!!! He has never slept that much in his life!!!We had a wonderful frustuck (breakfast) at the hotel, then took off for Poland.

Here's a picture of the place where we stayed last night

Drove today and while still in Germany, we saw places similar to Nebraska

Then I rotated around and took this picture...not much like Nebraska.

We crossed into Poland. I think that's the first NEW country I've been to since 1972!! The countries since then are repeats. We drove along the Baltic coast hoping to see beautiful beaches along the Baltic, but all we saw were lots of towns that were very touristy selling lots of junky stuff...so we kept driving. We decided to start looking for a place to stay and as we were going down the highway, Rainman saw this hotel and said, "Hey...I saw that one as I was doing some research 2 or 3 weeks ago". He remembered seeing the colors of the place. So we stopped and we're staying here:

By the way the black car on the left is our rental car...it's a Skoda...we've never heard of it!

Here's a picture of our room...not fancy...but it works fine:

The cost of this hotel is $50 and that includes breakfast!! We had dinner here...3 course...for $10. We actually looked around for another restaurant because the dinner here was identical to last night ...but we had no zlotny (Polish money) and my bank card didn't work (and today is Sunday). All the restaurants in the touristy towns had parking where you had to pay with Polish coins...so that didn't fit. I need to get my card working, though.....and quickly.

I have asked quite a few people if they speak English and so far no one does. The lady at this hotel speaks a little German so I have resorted to that. I have learned 5 words so far in Polish:
thank you = pronounced jen-koo-yeh
2 beers please = dva peevo proshe
yes= tak

....pretty much the most important ones!

After dinner we walked across the street to the beach. Here is the Baltic:

So we are relaxing now and will be heading to bed soon (it's 8:30).
Oh wait...here's the best picture of the day. It just may be the first of several of it's kind...it's just too tempting! Here goes:

  2. LOL omg...Fishing Pole. That's hilarious. I can't believe Dad slept 15 hours! I thought for sure he'd be up at 1 a.m. not able to go back to sleep! What's next? Taking NAPS??
