Got up and went to the local spa here in Bad Krozingen at the Vita Classica spa....it's really nice....we've been here before. It has 2 really nice outdoor pools and several inside ones. One of the outside pools has a very large flume that was really fun and good exercise. There were a lot of jets in some of the pools. One was one the last time Dad referred to it as the atomic wedgie pool. It really bubbles up!! Something that we didn't see last time at this spa is a musikhalle...a pool where you listen to music underwater. Actually you just float, lay your head back so your ears are under water and then listen to very relaxing music. It was a great place to close your eyes and meditate. It took me awhile to get grounded again before I could leave the pool! It was extra nice!
We had a bowl of soup for lunch there before leaving, then we got on the autobahn. Dad was behaving himself today..but the usual cars were zooming past us like bats out of hell. The guy we spoke with last evening said that some of the crazy drivers when they get on the unmarked autobahn where there is no "official" speed limit...sometimes they get up to 250 kph....that translates out to 150 mph...and most of them drive Audis, second in line is Mercedes, then BMWs. There are few exceptions to this.
Along the way we passed this:
About half way thru the 3 hr drive it started pouring rain...torrential rain. It actually slowed all traffic on the I 5 (the autobahn) down to about 35 kph...that was amazing! The rain and some construction added about an extra 1 1/2 hr onto our trip. But we got into Bingen around 5:30. I had booked this hotel last night and it's really fancy and nice. I got it for 70 E a night (about $90). The hotel is right on the Rhein River. Here is a photo of the fancy room
And here is the view out our window...looking across the Rhein River . The bank is loaded with grape vines. Of course, Rhein (Rhine) wine is very well known mostly white wine.
Here's the restaurant here where we ate dinner...pretty fancy!
And here's the view we had while eating dinner....again...across the Rhein...those are hillsides of grape vines.
So, of course, we had to have wine with dinner here! It was wonderful and so was the dinner!

ReplyDeleteCool teardrop trailer!!
ReplyDeleteMatt...you are exactly right! We judge how long to stay at a spa or when to leave as to how our hands look...If they are really wrinkled...it's time to go!! -Mom
ReplyDeleteSara, I thought you'd like that...very interesting colors!! -Mom
